‘Koti Vriksharchana’ receives warm response
Hundreds of organisations and individuals including Ministers and celebrities take part in massive plantation drive, with many of them flooding social media with selfies taken next to the saplings

Hyderabad: People voluntarily turned up in large numbers and participated in the ‘Koti Vriksharchana’ programme, planting more than one crore saplings in Telangana and other parts of the country, to mark the birthday of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Hundreds of organisations and individuals took part in the massive plantation drive, with many of them flooding the social media with their selfies taken next to the saplings they planted.
Initiated by Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar as part of his Green India Challenge, the Koti Vriksharchana received huge response with people from different walks of life planting the saplings. At the request of Santosh Kumar, Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao Rao himself planted a ‘Rudraksha’ sapling. The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the green drive and congratulated the MP for undertaking this wonderful event.
TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao also planted saplings along with his family members at Pragathi Bhavan, while Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and several other Ministers, TRS Parliament members and legislators too planted saplings at different venues across the State. Several organisations and educational institutions as well as officials and general public too planted the saplings, extending their birthday wishes to the Chief Minister.
Despite his illness, Padmashree awardee Vanajeevi Ramaiah who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad, planted saplings on the hospital premises along with his wife. Film personalities including actors K Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu along with badminton player Sikki Reddy and several other prominent personalities also took part in the plantation programme. They urged people to plant saplings and take the responsibility of protecting them for increasing the green cover to play their role in safeguarding the nature.
TRS supporters and Chandrashekhar Rao’s admirers in various parts of India and abroad also planted saplings. The Chief Minister’s admirers from East Godavari and Krishna districts in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh too organised his birthday celebrations where they planted saplings. The TRS NRI units from about 50 countries also celebrated the birthday of Chandrashekhar Rao by planting saplings in their respective countries.
