Hyderabad: BRS whip KP Vivekananda lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of miserably failing both as Chief Minister and as Minister of the Municipal Administration department. He said the Chief Minister’s recent remarks about visiting streets to inspect sanitation were an indirect admission of his failure.

“The Chief Minister requiring to conduct inspections on sanitation and road maintenance is an admission of failure. In the last 26 months of Congress rule, no significant development has taken place in Hyderabad. Except for publicity, no progress was made,” he said.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Vivekananda said the second phase of the Metro Rail expansion, approved during the previous BRS regime, was stalled and Hyderabad was deprived of much-needed connectivity. “There is growing demand for Metro in North Hyderabad, but the Chief Minister is not even discussing it,” he said, adding that earlier promises made in the name of Musi River rejuvenation, city beautification and HYDRAA initiatives had turned out to be mere drama.

He said the Congress government’s focus was on revenue collection rather than civic needs. “Revanth Reddy speaks about Vision 2047, but not about non-functioning streetlights. He speaks about Davos visits and investments, but not about mosquito menace and sanitation. He made no major progress under SRDP (Strategic Road Development Programme),” he said.

The BRS legislator criticised the GHMC trifurcation, calling it unscientific and revenue-driven. He questioned the division of the civic body without clarity on allied agencies like the Metro Water Board. He also alleged that the government was making announcements only during elections and ignoring people’s needs otherwise. He termed the Indiramma housing scheme a fraud and challenged the government to show a single new house constructed in Hyderabad under Congress rule.
