KRMB team’s visit to RLIS postponed, AP fails to appoint nodal officer

Hyderabad: A fact-finding team of the Krishna River Board Management (KRMB) inspection visit to Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS) on Wednesday was postponed since the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government failed to appoint a nodal officer to facilitate their visit to the project site.

The board, which scheduled the visit to the site following directions from National Green Tribunal (NGT), has now decided to visit the site on July 3 to the study the ground situation.

The Telangana government has already complained about the construction work to the board.

Responding to a contempt petition filed by Telangana Sarpanches Association leader G Srinivas a few days ago, the NGT had directed the AP government not to take up construction without getting any environmental clearance.

The Association had brought to the notice of the NGT the construction work going on at RLIS. The NGT ordered the KRMB to submit a report explaining the latest situation at RLIS on July 12.
