RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: Sircilla MLA and BRS working president KT Rama Rao has asked the State government to inaugurate the Malkapet Lift Irrigation Project and fill the Singasamudram tank by lifting water from Mid-Manair reservoir.

He wrote to Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday based on a request from Singasamudram ayacut farmers. The trial run of the Malkapet reservoir lift irrigation scheme was already done during the BRS regime but not inaugurated due to the election code. As 17 tmc of water was available in the MMR, the State government could lift water from it by operating the Malkapet lift scheme and provide irrigable water to 2,000 acres under Singasamudram, he pointed out.

It was possible to protect standing crops in Racharla Boppapur, Racharla Gollapalli, Devunigutta thanda, Racharla Thimmapur, Bakurpalli thanda, Rajannapeta, Kistanaik thanda, Almaspur, Akkapalli, Buggarajeshwara thanda, Narayanpur, Yellareddypet, Korutlapet and Samudralingapur, he added.
