Hyderabad: Representatives of the Singapore NRI community held a special interaction with BRS working president KT Rama Rao during his visit to Malaysia for the Telangana Formation Day celebrations. BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala presided over the meeting.
During the interaction, Rama Rao discussed Singapore’s development model, urban planning, public transport, sanitation and technology-driven governance. He stressed the need to adopt international-standard development models to transform the State into a global benchmark.
He also recalled the insights gained during BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s earlier visits to Singapore and Malaysia, stating that several of those ideas had influenced Telangana’s development initiatives.
The discussions focused on identifying best practices from Singapore and Malaysia that could be adapted for Telangana.
The Singapore NRI representatives urged Rama Rao to organise a Telangana-focused event in Singapore, to which he responded positively. Members of various Telangana and Telugu associations, including BRS NRI, Telangana Cultural Society and the Singapore Vasavi Association, attended the meeting, with many travelling from Singapore to Malaysia specifically for the event.
