Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao took a dig at the Congress government for its double standards in public spending. He questioned its justification for splurging Rs 200 crore on hosting the Miss World beauty pageant while vilifying the Rs 46 crore spent on the Formula-E race during the BRS regime.

He targeted Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi, asking, “What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain, Rahul Gandhi Ji?”

His remarks come amid mounting criticism of the Congress government‘s misplaced priorities, as it struggles to fulfill its electoral promises while indulging in extravagant events at the taxpayers’ expense.

Telangana is set to host the Miss World 2025 competition, marking the 72nd edition of the beauty pageant. The Competition will span a month, from May 7 to May 31, and will take place across various destinations in the State, with the finale set in Hyderabad.

The State government will be spending around Rs 200 crore for the event, which is drawing flak from various quarters for its double standards, especially while filing a case against the previous BRS government for spending Rs 46 crore for hosting the Formula-E race in Hyderabad.
