Hyderabad: The hasty and thoughtless acts of TPCC president A Revanth Reddy seem to continue to cause unnecessary headache for the Congress high command. The latest being his ‘White Challenge’ to IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, with the latter agreeing to it and suggesting that AICC former president Rahul Gandhi too should undergo drug analysis tests.

In response to the TPCC president’s challenge, Rama Rao expressed his readiness to travel to AIIMS in Delhi, if Rahul Gandhi was willing to join him for drug analysis tests. “I am ready for any test & will travel to AIIMS Delhi if Rahul Gandhi is willing to join. It’s below my dignity to do it with Cherlapally jail alumni (sic),” Rama Rao tweeted, in reference to Revanth Reddy’s stint at Cherlapally Central Prison in connection with the Note for Vote case.

The Minister even dared Revanth Reddy that if he takes the test and gets a clean chit, will the latter apologise and quit his posts. He also questioned whether the TPCC president was willing to undergo a lie detector test on the Note for Vote case.

Minutes after the Minister challenged the Congress leaders, #RahulDrugTest started trending nationwide on social media platform Twitter, with thousands of Twitterati wondering whether Rahul Gandhi was up for the challenge. While some Congress supporters started criticising Revanth Reddy’s actions and his thoughtless acts which have become a laughing stock in Telangana, others circulated media clippings citing the allegations made by BJP senior leader Subramanya Swamy in the past against Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra (Priyanka Gandhi’s husband) in connection with drugs usage. The issue has now caught the attention of the national media and triggered a debate across the nation.

Senior Congress leaders at Gandhi Bhavan are obviously irked over the TPCC president’s hasty actions which had brought back issues that many have forgot and fear its implications on the party in the State as well as national level. The Twitterati kept wondering whether Revanth Reddy was working for Chandrababu Naidu or Congress party as he has been landing the Congress leadership in the soup frequently through his actions.

I am ready for any test & will travel to AIIMS Delhi if Rahul Gandhi is willing to join. It’s below my dignity to do it with Cherlapally jail alumni

If I take the test & get a clean chit, will you apologise & quit your posts?

Are you ready for a lie detector test on #Note4Vote https://t.co/8WqLErrZ7u
