Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government of deliberately spreading false claims and inflating the State’s debt burden to cover up its own failures. Instead, he advised the government to stop its misinformation campaign and address the financial mismanagement immediately.

Reacting to news reports appeared in these columns, Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues had falsely claimed that Telangana was paying Rs 7,000 crore every month towards loan interest. He pointed out that the latest Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report exposed the lies, showing that the State paid only Rs 9,355 crore in four months, averaging about Rs 2,300 crore a month.
