Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday launched a broadside against the Congress government over its alleged failure to fulfil two lakh government jobs and release of job calendar promises. He accused it of pushing Telangana’s youth into despair and demanded answers from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the employment front.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here, Rama Rao referred to the recent suicide attempt by a youth Venu, in Khammam district and said his letter should be viewed as a charge sheet against the Congress government rather than merely a suicide note. He said Venu had questioned the government over its job calendar promise and the failure to deliver on its employment promises.

The BRS working president stated that the Congress promised two lakh jobs during the elections and released a job calendar after coming to power, but failed to implement it meaningfully even after nearly two years. He said not even 10,000 jobs were filled and questioned why only 7,000 police posts were notified when about 20,000 vacancies existed.

He also targeted Rahul Gandhi, recalling the employment assurances made to youth at Ashok Nagar during the election campaign. He asked why rahul Gandhi remained silent over Revanth Reddy’s alleged remarks against unemployed youth and engineering students. He accused the Congress leader of speaking about students’ rights in other States while ignoring issues in Telangana.

Rama Rao criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks terming engineering students as criminal waste, pointing out that engineers had built Hyderabad’s flyovers, police command-control infrastructure and major irrigation systems. “Engineers know how to build; they also know how to bury the Congress,” he said.

He said the Congress and BJP had reduced youth issues to electoral politics, with the Congress government in Telangana turning job calendar as a jobless calendar.

The BRS working president appealed to students and unemployed youth not to resort to suicide, urging them to remain strong and promising that a future BRS government would fill government job vacancies apart from creating more employment opportunities in private sector.

Replying to a query, Rama Rao accused the government of failing to utilise Godavari River waters for irrigation despite heavy inflows, questioned its handling of the Kaleshwaram project. “If not for rains, Telangana would have faced severe water crisis due to inefficiency and criminal negligence of the Congress government,” he said.

He challenged the government to hold a 15-day Assembly session and allow a detailed debate on unemployment and youth-related promises. “First fulfil the promises made to students and unemployed youth,” he said.
