Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh would be paid to the bereaved family members of software engineer Rajanikanth, who died after he was swept away in an overflowing drain in Manikonda a few days ago.
The department has already placed an assistant executive engineer and deputy executive engineer under suspension in connection with the incident, he said, replying to a question in the State Legislative Council here on Friday.
“There was negligence on the part of my department and as a Minister I will take the responsibility,” he said, describing the incident as unfortunate. Rajanikanth’s body was later found at Neknampur lake.
