Hyderabad: Pledging the support of the BRS party to the victims of the Musi River project, who called on him in Telangana Bhavan, K.T. Rama Rao, BRS working president said on Thursday that the BRS party would stand by them and provide legal assistance.
Coming down heavily on the Congress government for attempting to demolish the homes of the poor under the guise of the Musi beautification project, he condemned the Congress for labelling the poor as encroachers after granting them permissions, collecting electricity bills, and property taxes.
He assured the victims that they need not fear and that the BRS party would support them. KTR emphasized that the Congress government, which promised six guarantees to the people within 100 days of coming to power, was now trying to demolish the homes of the poor.
The victims expressed their grievances to KTR, stating that the government is causing them distress by threatening to demolish their homes, which they have been living in for 50 years. KTR warned the government that the BRS party would not tolerate the arbitrary demolition of the homes of the poor.
He advised the victims to consult local BRS leaders and hold their elected representatives accountable. The victims thanked him for his assurance of support and legal assistance without any cost. He reiterated that the BRS party would continue to fight for the rights of the Musi project victims and prevent any injustice.
