Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao called for more novels and literature grounded in historical research on Telangana. He said Telangana’s rich social and cultural heritage offered vast scope for literature that is yet to be explored.
At his Nandinagar residence, Rama Rao received the new edition of the novel Kondamallu, authored by Vardhelli Venkateshwarlu, from people’s poet and MLC Goreti Venkanna and others.
Appreciating the work, the BRS working president said Venkateswarlu had brought to light voices and stories of the Chenchu community that deserved far greater attention in the current socio-political context. He suggested that he take up more research-based literature rooted in Telangana’s history and heritage.
During the interaction, Goreti Venkanna explained the novel’s historical background based on research into the 800-year-old Palnadu region and the Chenchu community. The novel is based on Chenchu leader Bayyanna who fought for his people against Brahmanaidu who sought to expand his Palnadu kingdom.
