Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the arrest of party social media activist Sasidhar alias Nalla Balu by the Karimnagar police in Hyderabad, calling it a blatant attack on democratic rights. He said the police treated Sasidhar like a criminal for questioning the Congress government’s failure to deliver its promises.

In a statement, Rama Rao said the activist neither committed any crime nor posed a threat to society. He reminded that the BRS activist was not a terrorist, a Maoist or even a sympathiser.

“He neither provoked violence nor disturbed public order. But the Congress government deployed tens of police personnel to break into his house at midnight and arrest him as if he is a hardened criminal,” he added.

The BRS working president said the Congress government was unleashing a crackdown on voices questioning its unfulfilled election promises on social media. He questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence on his Congress government’s actions.

“You speak of democracy and carry the Constitution in your hands. But don’t you see the undeclared emergency in Telangana?” he asked.

He warned the Congress government that intimidation or false cases could not stop the BRS which overcame all such obstacles to realise the State of Telangana.

“We will continue to question you and fight for the people,” he asserted.
