Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Congress leaders were crossing every moral line by mocking the emotions of Maganti Sunitha, the BRS candidate for Jubilee Hills bypoll. People were watching the shamelessness of the Congress leaders who were ridiculing a grieving widow, he said.
Responding to the media, Rama Rao said Sunitha, who lost her husband Maganti Gopinath barely six months ago, had naturally turned emotional while addressing the people of Jubilee Hills whom she considered as her extended family. Her remarks came from the pain of a family losing its head.
“Her husband passed away less than six months ago. Is it wrong for a woman to feel anguish and express grief?” he asked, condemning the comments made by Congress leaders including Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Thummala Nageswara Rao. Instead of showing empathy, they had stooped to slandering her grief, he said.
“This is not politics, it is moral bankruptcy,” he remarked.
Rama Rao also condemned the filing of an illegal case against Sunitha’s daughter for campaigning on behalf of her mother, calling it a new low in the immoral and inhuman politics of the Congress. “This is not just political indecency. It is an attack on basic human values. The Congress has turned grief into a political weapon,” he charged.
