Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao strongly condemned drug usage and any illegal activities, asserting that he personally opposed consumption of narcotic or illicit substances. He said drug abuse was turning people into monsters and those involved in using or peddling narcotics should be punished strictly.

“Drugs create monsters out of human beings. It is unfortunate that even people in responsible positions are resorting to drug usage. Anyone using or supplying drugs should be punished as per the law, regardless of their political affilliation. I personally am strictly against drugs and usage of illicit substances,” he said in a statement.

At the same time, Rama Rao objected to attempts to link the BRS to drug-related cases for political reasons and called it highly deplorable. He said using drug cases to settle scores with BRS reflected disgusting politics.

Welcoming TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud’s remarks, the BRS working president said he was ready to undergo any test and supported the suggestion that all public representatives, irrespective of political party, should face such tests. “I have said repeatedly that I am ready for any test. I welcome the suggestion that elected representatives from all parties should undergo the test. Let us lead by example,” he added.

Rama Rao also warned that he would take legal action if his name was linked to drug cases without evidence. “I strongly warn that dragging my name into every drug case will be responded to with legal notices,” he said.
