Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said Telangana’s commitment was aiding urban local bodies in the State to bag awards at national level. He complimented the Mayors, elected public representatives and officials for winning awards at the Swacch Survekshan 2021 prorgamme. The Minister met the officials and public representatives at New Delhi after they received the awards.
After the formation of Telangana, the State government was ensuring comprehensive development of the State irrespective of urban or rural areas, the Minister said adding urban rapid development would pave way for further prosperity of the State. Towards this, apart from extending special funds to towns, many development programmes were taken up specifically for the towns, the Minister said.
After formation of the State, the Telangana government had taken up several innovative initiatives and this had brought a qualitative change in the towns and their approach, Rama Rao said.
He said Telangana was not only excelling at the State level in Urban administration but was also performing well in PM SVANIDHI and other programmes at the national level. The Minister said Telangana had bagged second place in the Safai Mitra, besides 11 other Swacch Survekshan awards at the national level. All this was possible due to the dedicated efforts and coordination among Municipal Administration department staff, he said.
“Other municipalities and municipal corporations should get inspired from the municipalities that have won awards at the national level” said KT Rama Rao. He wanted towns in the State to implement more development programmes to get national level recognition.
Elected public representatives expressed happiness over MAUD Minister’s gesture to compliment them and motivate them to get more awards.
