Sircilla: BRS working president KT Rama Rao ridiculed Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s claims on dropping “explosive bombs and arrests of some top BRS leaders”, terming them empty threats to divert public attention from the Congress government’s failures. He dared the Congress to file cases and arrest him, if he had done anything wrong.
Speaking to mediapersons after the public hearing on power tariff hike in Sircilla on Friday, Rama Rao reminded that the BRS had fought against leaders like YS Rajasekhara Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu during the Telangana Statehood movement.
“We were not scared of original bombs (Rajasekhara Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu). These (Congress leaders) are just Diwali crackers,” he said, pointing out that in the last 10 months, the Congress had not only failed to implement its electoral promises, but also failed to prove its charges against the BRS, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and other party leaders.
The BRS working president said Minister Srinivas Reddy who wanted to drop bombs, might want to speak about the recent raids of Enforcement Directorate (ED) on his properties and how he escaped from the arrests by pleading with the BJP leaders and businessmen Gautam Adani.
“He might also wants to speak about the AMRUT scam where Rs 1,137 crore contract was awarded to the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law in a shady deal,” he said.
On Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy demanding disqualification of BRS MLAs defecting to the Congress, Rama Rao stated that there was no internal co-ordination between the Congress leaders themselves. He ridiculed Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar for claiming that he was still a BRS MLA and did not resign from the party. He said none of the 10 turncoat MLAs had any value.
“If Jagtial MLA did not join the Congress party, then why is he posing for photographs with the Chief Minister inducting him into the Congress. Who is he trying to fool?” he asked, stating that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was following the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He warned the Congress govenrment against harrassing the BRS cadre and vowed to return it in equal measure when the BRS returned to power.
