Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday lashed out at the Revanth Reddy government over its failure to speed up paddy procurement and for forcing farmers to sell their produce to middlemen. He demanded that the State government immediately step in and procure every single grain without restrictions.

Following his recent visit to a Bengal gram procurement centre in Sadasivapet of Sangareddy district, Rama Rao said farmers were facing difficult conditions due to the government’s negligence. He stated that unlike during the tenure of K Chandrashekhar Rao, when the State procured crops without restrictions, the present Congress regime was shirking its responsibility.

He said farmers were collapsing at procurement centres due to delays, even as the government remained indifferent to their plight. He warned that the government’s failure to act would only deepen agrarian distress.
