Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao distributed Ramzan ration kits to poor families from Muslim community at a programme organised by former MLC Mohd Saleem in Somajiguda here on Thursday. Extending Ramzan greetings to the community, he prayed that the Almighty bless all and enable them celebrate the festival happily.

Recalling the previous BRS government’s initiatives, Rama Rao said that during the K Chandrashekhar Rao government, Ramzan Tohfa (gifts) were distributed to poor Muslims every year and financial assistance of Rs 1,00,116 was provided under the Shaadi Mubarak scheme for the marriage of poor Muslim women.

However, he charged the Congress with discontinuing welfare schemes after coming to power. “The Congress made false promises. After forming the government, they ended all schemes. Instead of gifts, they are sending bulldozers to the houses of the poor,” he said. He expressed confidence that BRS would return to power. “KCR will become the Chief Minister again and Ramzan gifts will once again reach every poor Muslim,” he said.

MLC Dasoju Sravan and former MLC Karne Prabhakar were also present.
