Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao paid rich tributes to tribal freedom fighter Kumram Bheem on his birth anniversary on Wednesday. They recalled his relentless struggle with the slogan ‘Jal, Jangal, Zameen’.
Rama Rao called Bheem a tribal warrior and rebel hero who became a symbol of people’s struggles. He said the BRS government, under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, had drawn inspiration from Bheem’s ideals by increasing the number of ST welfare residential schools, providing Dr BR Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship to study abroad, and creating opportunities for tribal youth through the CMSTEI scheme.
He stated that naming Asifabad district after Kumram Bheem, developing the Jodeghat memorial and constructing a tribal community building in his name in Hyderabad were among the BRS’s proudest tributes to the legendary leader.
Harish Rao also hailed Bheem’s revolutionary spirit, calling his life an eternal inspiration for future generations. He said the BRS government under Chandrashekhar Rao transformed Bheem’s native place Jodeghat into a memorial site to celebrate Bheem’s legacy and built the Kumram Bheem Memorial Building in Hyderabad as a mark of respect for tribal self-respect and empowerment.
