KTR helps rescue Warangal woman stranded in Muscat
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao facilitated the rescue and return of a Warangal woman who was allegedly stranded in Muscat after being taken there on a tourist visa on the promise of securing a work visa
Hyderabad: BRS Working President, K.T. Rama Rao has facilitated the rescue and return of a woman from Warangal who was allegedly taken to Muscat on a tourist visa on the promise of securing a work visa and stranded there for the last 25 days.
The woman, identified as Mahamuda, a resident of Warangal, claimed she was cheated by an agent who had promised her a job and was subsequently asked to engage in immoral activities. She alleged that she was confined to a house and that her mobile phone was snatched away.
“I was confined to a room for nearly a week. Somehow, I managed to come out and contact my family members,” Mahamuda said. She claimed she was threatened with being implicated in a theft case and sent to jail if she attempted to return to India.
A sub-agent allegedly demanded Rs. 1.13 lakh for returning her passport and allowing her to travel home. After Mahamuda managed to contact her family, her sister approached local media channels seeking help.
The matter was subsequently brought to the notice of Balu Kayethi Sircilla, CEO of Balam TV, who took up the issue with KT Rama Rao and sought his intervention. “KTR asked me not to bother about the money and to focus on rescuing the woman and ensuring her return to India,” Balu said.
The case was also taken up with representatives of the BRS NRI Cell in Muscat. Ahmed, a representative of the cell, monitored the case and coordinated legal assistance.
Following the intervention of KT Rama Rao, the BRS NRI Cell members, Muscat police and officials of the Indian Embassy, Mahamuda was placed under the care of embassy authorities. “Finally, she returned to India on Tuesday,” Balu said.
