Hyderabad: Hailing from a poor tribal family, K Srilatha fought against all odds to secure admission in IIT, Varanasi to pursue Ceramic Engineering BTech course. Srilatha also secured 919th rank in JEE (Advanced) ST Category, which helped her secure admission in IIT, Varanasi. However, her family could not afford to bear the expenditure.

Learning about her difficulties, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday extended financial assistance to Srilatha to complete her education in IIT, Varanasi. The Minister said that it gave him immense pleasure to support a hardworking and talented student like Srilatha.

A native of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Srilatha completed her Intermediate with an aggregate of 97 percentile through TTWRJC (G), Nagarkurnool, in 2021.

Her father Balakrishna and mother Radha work as daily wage workers while her brother Sai Babu recently completed Intermediate in Tribal Welfare Junior College, Illandu. Due to financial constraints, Srilatha found it difficult to arrange money for the course material, hostel accommodation and mess and other expenses.

The family members thanked the Minister for extending timely support.
