Hyderabad: TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday slammed BJP national president JP Nadda for spreading canards about Telangana and ridiculed the latter’s cheap and heinous politics. “I wonder if Nadda has lost his mental balance to make statements contradictory to the stand taken by the BJP government at the Centre on the TRS government’s programmes,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Rama Rao said Nadda was considered as an educated gentlemen but he proved there was little difference between him and BJP State president Bandi Sanjay. “His hollowness and bankruptcy of ideas are open for all to see in his remarks,” he said.

In a point-by-point rebuttal to Nadda’s allegations, the Minister trashed the former’s statements made on Kaleshwaram Project and Mission Bhagiratha. He pointed out that the union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Bisweshwar Tudu told the Lok Sabha that the Telangana government constructed the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme with its own resources and there was no instance of corruption. “Now Nadda ji, must clarify if he lost his mental balance or the union Minister,” he demanded.

Rama Rao pointed out that the BJP government at the Centre had lauded the Telangana government’s successful schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Mission Bhagiratha as well as copied them, but the party’s national president was criticising the same schemes. He demanded that Nadda answer the inspiration behind PM-KISAN and Har Ghar Jal, if not Rythu Bandhu and Mission Bhagiratha respectively.

He pointed out that the Jal Jeevan Mission of the union government declared Telangana as the only State to provide piped drinking water connection to cent per cent households.

“Nadda ji, you should be ashamed to criticise us. Our government’s policies are your party’s election slogans. Our Chief Minister is delivering a statesman like governance, unlike the BJP’s salesman governance which is selling the public sector undertakings,” he added. He said BJP had only meted out injustice to Telangana on all issues ranging from paddy procurement to closure of cantonment roads.

Exposing the double standards of the BJP leadership, the TRS working president said the Centre discriminates Telangana in sanction of funds, projects and all other issues, while their leaders in the State stage protests on the same issues. He said rather than working for development of the State, the BJP leaders are covering up their failures by staging protests. He ridiculed that the Centre refuses to purchase paddy from Telangana and fails to fill over 15 lakh jobs in various departments in the union government as well as keeps approvals of new zonal system pending for several months, but the BJP leaders in the State sit for protests here on the same issues.

He said Nadda was just reading out the script given by the local BJP leaders without applying any thought or checking facts. He rubbished the BJP leader speaking about democracy and reminded that when farmers staged protests on the outskirts of Delhi for more than a year, the union government had not only tortured them in many ways, but had failed to take action against a Minister whose son had killed eight persons by running his vehicle over the protesting farmers in Uttar Pradesh. He said the shameless BJP leaders who shower flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in public, hail Godse in private.

In a strong counter to Nadda’s statement of dynasty politics in Telangana, Rama Rao stated that they were all elected by the people of the State and had a history of fighting for statehood for Telangana. He reminded Nadda that his mother-in-law Jaysree Banerjee was a Parliament member and several other BJP leaders have multiple family members in politics.
