Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was colluding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to weaken Telangana’s irrigation interests under the guise of a CBI inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project.
Calling the move a direct assault on Telangana’s existence, he said handing over the project to the CBI was part of a larger conspiracy to permanently close Kaleshwaram and divert Godavari waters to Andhra Pradesh at the cost of Telangana farmers. “Revanth Reddy, who branded the CBI, ED and IT as Modi’s weapons against the opposition, has now embraced them within 48 hours at the behest of the BJP,” he charged.
In a teleconference with party leaders, Rama Rao contrasted the Congress party’s national stance with its actions in Telangana. He pointed out that while Rahul Gandhi accuses the Central agencies of functioning as BJP’s “Opposition Elimination Cell”, Revanth Reddy was doing exactly the opposite by using the CBI to target BRS in Telangana. “If the CBI is bitter for Rahul Gandhi, how can it be sweeter for Revanth Reddy?” he asked.
The BRS working president stated that the PC Ghose Commission and the subsequent CBI handover were aimed at defaming former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who had transformed Telangana through construction of the Kaleshwaram project. He said Revanth Reddy handing over the Kaleshwaram project matter to CBI immediately after Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, was a clear sign of their collusion.
He questioned why Central agencies like NDSA have remained silent on SLBC tunnel collapse, Sunkishala retaining wall damage and repeated incidents of damage to the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh, but rushed to fault Kaleshwaram project after damage to a single pillar at Medigadda barrage. He said people of Telangana could see through the Congress-BJP nexus with Prime Minister Narendra Modi putting all efforts to safeguard Revanth Reddy through BJP leaders in the State.
Vowing to take the fight legally and politically, Rama Rao said BRS would not be intimidated by threats or cases. “This is not just about KCR or BRS. It is about Telangana’s farmers, its lifeline, and its future. We will resist these conspiracies by all means,” he asserted.
