Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao and former MLA Jaipal Yadav joined a dharna in Kalwakurthy constituency, Kodtal, against the proposed solar power plants on agricultural land and the regional ring road.

The protest, led by local farmers, highlighted growing concerns over forcible land acquisitions under the current Congress government. The farmers losing land alleged that the projects were part of a larger scheme to benefit private interests at the expense of their livelihoods.

Addressing the gathering, Rama Rao reaffirmed the party’s support for the farmers.

“Some brothers came to Telangana Bhavan recently. The BRS party will stand by you,” he said, also emphasising the role of the country’s judicial system. “There is a justice system in the nation.”

He took a sharp dig at the ruling Congress, contrasting it with the previous BRS regime under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

“When we were in power, K Chandrashekhar Rao never did anything like this,” he said, adding that the current government was orchestrating a “conspiracy to amass their own assets.” He further alleged that Revanth Reddy was behind efforts to suppress injustice and declared that the BRS would stop these plots by Revanth Reddy.

“We will support you in every kind of justice system, even spending crores if needed,” he said, urging the farmers to return to Telangana Bhavan with former MLA Jaipal Yadav.

Local farmers said the solar power initiatives threatened fertile lands without adequate compensation or consent.
