Hyderabad: Lauding the bold stand taken by renowned poet and writer Nandini Siddha Reddy by rejecting the Telangana government’s offer of a cash award of Rs 1 crore and a residential plot, BRS working president KT Rama Rao called it a significant message to the society.
He met Siddha Reddy, who played a significant role in the Telangana literary movement, at his residence in Alwal on Saturday. The meeting was marked by discussions on the way forward to preserve the identity and cultural heritage of the State. During the meeting, Rama Rao and Siddha Reddy reminisced about the memories of crucial phases of the movement. The BRS leader emphasized that Siddha Reddy’s bold decision sends a strong message to the Telangana society, especially at a time when the government itself was conspiring against Telangana’s identity.
“Telangana’s children will not hesitate to make any sacrifices to protect their identity, and Siddha Reddy’s courageous decision has given a great message to society,” Rama Rao said.
Their discussion also focused on the ongoing attacks on Telangana’s identity. Stressing the need for people to be more vigilant and protect their rights, Rama Rao urged the Telangana society to unite and fight once again.
“Poets and artists have always been at the forefront of preserving Telangana’s cultural heritage,” he said, also interacting with Siddha Reddy’s family members and enquiring about their well-being.
Siddha Reddy presented Rama Rao with some of the books authored by him. BRS MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, MLC Deshapathi Srinivas, BRS leaders Balka Suman, Devi Prasad and Dasoju Sravan were also present.
