Hyderabad: TRS working president and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday nailed the opposition lies on filling of job vacancies by the TRS government with facts and figures and a complete break-down of recruitment in various departments in the past six years.

“The Congress, during its 10-year rule between 2004-14 in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh managed to fill just 24,000 vacancies through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission of which Telangana’s share was a mere 10,000. Compare this with the 1.32 lakh vacancies filled in the government sector that the TRS government filled in just six years through massive recruitment drives and the picture is clear. These are irrefutable figures culled out from official statistics, and I am ready for a debate anytime,” Rama Rao said, addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan here.

Pointing out that the statistics of recruitment during the 10-year Congress rule indicates a mere 1,000 jobs per annum in the Telangana region then, he warned both the BJP and the Congress to do their homework and stop indulging in mudslinging against the TRS government. “No government in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had carried out such massive recruitment as has been done by the TRS government in the State,” he said, adding that the BJP leaders should first speak about their contribution to the development of the State before targeting the TRS government.

The opposition has been crying hoarse, particularly in the MLC graduates election campaign, about the State government fudging recruitment figures and not coming out with the true picture.

Demolishing their allegations, Rama Rao said the State government permitted direct recruitment for a whopping 1.50 lakh jobs from June 2, 2014 to December 12, 2020, and of these, 1.32 lakh vacancies have been notified and the selection process for 1.26 lakh jobs was completed. Selection is under process for 23,685 jobs. “The Telangana State Public Service Commission permitted direct recruitment for 39,952 vacancies, and notifications were issued for 36,581 jobs. Selection has been completed for 30,594 jobs, and the process is in progress for the remaining 9,358 jobs,” he said.

The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board was permitted to directly recruit for 31,972 vacancies, and notifications were issued for the same and selection was also completed for all these vacancies. Similarly, the Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board was permitted to directly recruit for 7,016 jobs and of these, notification was issued for 3,678 jobs while the selection process was completed for 3,623 jobs, he said, adding that process for the remaining 3,393 posts is under progress.

The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board, he said, was permitted to directly recruit for 1,466 vacancies, and selection is under process for these jobs.

On the opposition allegations on the State government holding back the PRC recommendations, Rama Rao said the government had given 43 per cent fitment in pay scales earlier and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would definitely deliver on the PRC recommendations. “No other State in the country has ever given 43 per cent fitment. The

Telangana government is employee-friendly and will always strive for their welfare,” he said.
Pointing out that the State government had not merely confined to recruitments, he said it had also revised salaries of home guards, Anganwadi teachers, ASHA workers, sanitation workers and other employees substantially, he said. In addition to these, a welfare board was constituted for advocates with Rs 100 crore while sufficient funds were allocated for journalists’ welfare, he said, and dared Congress and BJP leaders to check if such welfare measures were being taken up in States ruled by them.
