Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has raised alarm over closure of the children’s ward at the government fever hospital in Hyderabad. He lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for prioritising beauty pageants over governance, after reports emerged that the children’s ward at the hospital has remained shut for over a year due to lack of paediatricians.

“The Chief Minister is busy running after the Miss World contest, but has no time to think of children’s health. Children and parents are left to suffer for over a year,” Rama Rao remarked on X (formerly Twitter). He questioned the government’s inaction in appointing paediatricians ahead of the monsoon and rising seasonal health risks.

Sharing a vernacular media report, he urged Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to intervene immediately and treat the issue as a public health priority. According to a news report, two doctors stationed at the hospital have been transferred and the posts have been vacant for the last year.
