KTR reaches Press Club for public debate with Revanth Reddy amid heavy police deployment

Hyderabad: Tensions ran high after BRS working president KT Rama Rao and several other leaders reached the Press Club of Hyderabad in Somajiguda on Tuesday for a public debate on farmers welfare. He had earlier challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the debate.
Police personnel were deployed in large numbers at the venue, ahead of the arrival of scores of BRS leaders along with their cadre. To prevent any unnecessary confrontation with the police, BRS had booked the venue for the debate in advance.
Speaking to reporters earlier at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said that he had accepted Revanth Reddy’s challenge and invited him for debate. With several BRS leaders already gathering at the Press Club and Revanth Reddy currently in Delhi, Rama Rao said he was open to debating with any Congress Minister in Revanth Reddy’s absence.
“Let him or his Ministers come for the debate. The Congress party has betrayed farmers and the people of Telangana by failing to implement its electoral promises,” he said.
Accusing the Congress government of dodging discussion in the Assembly and silencing opposition voices, he stated that the ruling party does not give opportunity to the opposition to speak, which prompted the BRS to dare for debate at the Press Club amid media.
