Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao recalled the historic “Karimnagar KCR Simha Garjana” public meeting held on May 17, 2001, stating that the spirit of the Telangana movement remained unchanged even after 25 years.
Marking the silver jubilee of the event, he said the energy witnessed during the first “Simha Garjana” continued through the recent silver jubilee celebrations of the BRS.
Rama Rao said BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao launched the statehood movement amid uncertainty, political challenges and widespread scepticism. Despite lacking financial resources and major political backing, the meeting drew massive crowds, he added.
He said Chandrashekhar Rao’s determination to achieve Telangana statehood, his emotional connection with the region, concern for its people and confidence in the public became the driving force behind the movement.
