Hyderabad: TRS working president and MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday ridiculed the BJP and Congress MPs baseless allegations against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and State Cabinet members, instead of speaking on issues. “While one MP terms us as rice smugglers, another MP speaks about a Rs 10,000 crore scam in Covid-19 vaccine purchases. The State government is not directly involved in either of them,” he said. Terming A Revanth Reddy as a cheap chief of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, he said the former had lost his mind in saying the Chief Minister was constructing the new State Secretariat to dig up hidden treasures under the old complex.
Welcoming Laxmi Narasimha Rao and his followers into the party fold, the TRS working president appreciated them for realising that only TRS under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao could develop Telangana State. While leaders from other parties were joining TRS inspired by the State government’s development and welfare programmes, he said those who were joining the Opposition parties were only vowing to destroy the Chief Minister since niether BJP or Congress had done anything for Telangana.
“The BJP government gave national project status to Polavaram in Andhra Pradesh and had recently approved national project status for Upper Bhadra project in Karnataka. But there has been no response to our requests to accord national project status to Kaleshwaram or Pranahitha-Chevella projects despite having provisions for it in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in this regard,” he stated.
Rama Rao made light of BJP State leaders threats for investigations against TRS functionaries, stating that the TRS elected representatives had not committed any crime to be scared of such empty threats from the BJP leadership. “They are accustomed to such threats since the Statehood movement and would fight it out in people’s arena. We are no slaves of Delhi. We are servants of the people of Telangana,” he added.
Ministers Gangula Kamalakar and Ch Malla Reddy, TRS Parliamentary party leader K Keshava Rao, MLAs, MLCs and others were present.
