Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government for neglecting farmers and breaking promises made to the agricultural community. He said the much-touted Indiramma Rajyam (Indira Gandhi’s regime) of the Congress had left farmers in the lurch.

Speaking on National Farmers Day, Rama Rao criticised the Congress government for depriving complete crop loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa investment assistance, highlighting the plight of Telangana’s farmers. “In Indiramma’s regime, farmers are facing only gallows and dungeons. Paddy farmers who are cultivating crops by obtaining private loans, are being harassed instead of being supported,” he said.

He also condemned the Congress for failing to provide a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal of paddy, leaving harvested paddy unsold in markets plagued by brokers. “Congress’s promises during elections, have turned into false campaigns after gaining power,” he remarked.

Referring to the struggles of Mukhra-K village farmers as emblematic of the broader agrarian distress, Rama Rao urged Telangana’s farmers and their families not to lose hope.

“Struggle is not new to us. Let’s unite against Congress conspiracies,” he declared, calling for collective action to address their grievances.
