Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge over the arrest of students and unemployed youth protesting at Osmania University, demanding the release of a job calendar. He questioned Kharge, who is currently in Hyderabad, on the irony of celebrating “Samvidhan” — the Constitution — while student protesters were being dragged off campus by police.

Sharing viral videos of the arrests at OU Arts College on X, Rama Rao stated that the visuals were a stark reminder of the Congress government’s utter disregard for democratic rights. He asked why the policemen were inside the campus and who gave them the right to drag students. “Was the fundamental right to protest erased from the Constitution?” he questioned.

He reminded Kharge that Osmania University was the epicentre of the Telangana statehood movement and that without protests in the university, a separate Telangana State would not have been achieved. He also cornered the Congress on its failure to deliver the two lakh jobs promised by Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi, stating, “Why cannot students question the government about broken promises?”
