KTR slams Modi-Revanth Reddy nexus for injustice to Telangana

BRS leader KT Rama Rao accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of a secret pact with Prime Minister Modi, alleging systematic injustice to Telangana. He cited neglect of irrigation projects, loss of investments and Centre’s indifference, urging voters to punish Congress

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday alleged that the Congress and the BJP had entered into a secret pact to dish out systematic injustice to Telangana. He said despite being in power at the Centre and the State, both parties were spending their energy on criticising the opposition BRS, but never attacked each other and continued to benefit mutually.

Addressing BJP leaders led by Aluri Vijayabharathi who joined the BRS at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had entered into a secret understanding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, putting Telangana’s future at stake. He alleged that the Congress government was deliberately neglecting repairs at Medigadda barrage of the Kaleshwaram project to benefit the BJP and TDP.


“On Modi and Chandrababu Naidu’s orders, Revanth Reddy is helping them in diversion of Godavari waters downstream to the Banakacherla project and eventually to Tamil Nadu,” KTR alleged, claiming the BJP wanted Telangana to lose control over river waters.

He equated Revanth Reddy with Modi, calling them “Bade Modi” and “Chote Modi”, accusing both of failing to deliver on promises. “Their partnership will eventually hurt Rahul Gandhi,” he remarked.

The BRS leader said both national parties were equally responsible for injustice to Telangana on issues ranging from implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act to development and welfare. He pointed out that while Congress and BJP won eight MP seats each of Telangana’s 17, they continued to target the BRS instead of questioning each other.

“The BJP MPs shield Revanth Reddy’s failures, while the Centre remains silent despite BRS complaints on scams in AMRUT tenders and Kancha Gachibowli lands,” he said.

Rama Rao also accused the BJP-led Centre of stripping Telangana of opportunities. He cited cancellation of the ITIR project, shifting of the proposed Defence Corridor from Hyderabad to Bundelkhand and diversion of investments to Gujarat.

“Not a single Navodaya school, medical college or IIM was sanctioned to Telangana. Even the Turmeric Board exists only in name,” he said, adding that Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Ranga Reddy projects were denied national project status.

Taking a dig at Revanth Reddy, he termed him a “scissor politician” for inaugurating projects initiated by the previous K Chandrashekhar Rao government. “He walks around with scissors in his pocket inaugurating buildings built by us. People are laughing at his clumsy speeches,” he said, urging voters to punish the Congress in the upcoming local body elections.

“Even after 20 months, the Congress has failed to deliver a single major promise. From urea shortages to unemployment, they have deceived Telangana. People’s verdict will be against them,” he said.
