Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his unfulfilled promises to Telangana’s youth, sarcastically inviting him back to Hyderabad to celebrate the success of his guarantees. His remarks were aimed at Rahul Gandhi’s earlier assurances, made during his visit to Ashok Nagar, to deliver two lakh government jobs, Rs 5 lakh assistance under the ‘Yuva Vikasam’ scheme and revamp of the Telangana Public Service Commision (TGPSC) within a year.

“Rahul Gandhi Ji, the youth in Ashok Nagar are waiting to thank you for delivering on the two lakh jobs in one year promise. They also want to express their gratitude for the Rs 5 lakh Yuva Vikasam assistance and also the revamp of TGPSC. Welcome back to Hyderabad to meet the youngsters since your guarantee is done,” he said.

Rama Rao’s statement comes as a pointed reminder of Rahul Gandhi’s November 2023 announcement, where he accused the BRS government under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of failing the youth. During his speech in Ashok Nagar, Rahul Gandhi criticised the Chandrashekhar Rao government, claiming it had neglected the youth’s employment needs. He promised swift action with a job calendar that would create two lakh government jobs in one year, overhaul the TGPSC to meet UPSC standards, and provide Rs 5 lakh assistance to unemployed youth through the Yuva Vikasam scheme.

“The future of our youth is secure in the hands of Congress’ Prajala Sarkar – this is my guarantee,” he had declared. However, Rama Rao’s sarcastic remarks pointed out that the Congress leader had fallen far short of delivering on those assurances, even as the youth continue to wait for the benefits Rahul Gandhi guaranteed a year ago.
