Hyderabad: Continuing his tirade against the Centre, TRS working president and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday held a quiz for the Twitterati to expose the Centre’s discrimination towards Telangana State. He also allowed them to search online for answers, if they wanted. On his Twitter handle, Rama Rao asked, “Quick General Knowledge questions to you tweeple; 1) Where is the world’s largest lift irrigation project located? 2) Who has built it & when? 3) What’s the monetary contribution of Govt of India to this project? (sic).” People participated enthusiastically and answered unanimously – “Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme” in the State as the world’s largest lift irrigation project.

They also responded to other questions stating that the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao built the project within a span of three years between 2016 and 2019. While the Centre”s contribution for the project is zero, it was completely planned, funded and executed by the State government. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Lok Sabha recently announced in the Parliament recently that the Centre has no role in the construction of KLIS. He informed that the total cost incurred on KLIS so far was reported to be Rs 80,321.57 crore as against the estimated cost of the Kaleshwaram project at Rs 80,190.46 crore (price level 2015-16).
