BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Congress government in Telangana, calling its tenure a flop show and accusing it of failing to fulfil electoral promises. He alleged misgovernance, political vendetta and neglect of welfare commitments while expressing confidence in the BRS resurgence

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao called the two-and-a-half-year tenure of the Congress government an utter flop show and predicted the remaining term to be a complete disaster. He said the Congress failed to deliver its electoral promises while burdening the people with misgovernance and political vendetta.

Addressing the BRS Khairatabad constituency general body meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rama Rao said the Congress had exhausted half its term with little to show. Comparing the Congress governance to a failed film, he remarked that the Congress government had been declared a flop even before reaching the interval. “What remains now is only the end card,” he said.

Accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of indulging in vindictive politics, he said internal conspiracies within the Congress were behind the Rajya Sabha setback of Telangana Congress affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.

Calling her one of the few honest leaders in the party and a trusted associate of Rahul Gandhi, the BRS working president stated that she was targeted after she reportedly informed the party’s Central leadership about alleged irregularities and corruption in Telangana. He said a case filed against her in Hyderabad under the Congress government was subsequently used to block her candidature.

He also targeted the Chief Minister over his recent remarks on Adolf Hitler as an inspiration and called the remarks shameful for an elected leader in a democratic country.

Listing the numerous electoral promises of the Congress, Rama Rao questioned the status of the promise to provide two lakh jobs in the first year, alleging that the target remained largely unmet. He reminded that the promised unemployment allowance of Rs 4,000 had also not been implemented.

He challenged the government to prove its claim of creating one crore women entrepreneurs, alleging that beneficiaries were yet to receive the promised financial assistance. “I am ready to resign if the government proves it has achieved the feat. Forget about making them crorepatis, this government owes Rs 1.25 lakh to each eligible beneficiary,” he said.

The former Municipal Minister accused the Congress of demolishing homes of the poor using HYDRAA while failing to construct new housing. He charged the Congress with systematically attempting to erase welfare schemes introduced during the BRS regime. Contrasting the two administrations, he cited the achievements of the K Chandrashekhar Rao government in power supply, drinking water, healthcare and welfare.

He predicted a bypoll in Khairatabad constituency following sitting MLA Danam Nagender’s defection from BRS to the ruling Congress. He suspected that the ruling party was conspiring to win the bypoll with false votes and wanted the party cadre to remain vigilant.

Predicting people’s wrath against the Congress in future elections, Rama Rao said the BRS was regaining ground and exuded confidence of winning any election. He urged party cadres to intensify voter outreach as part of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the party membership drive. “Telangana is paying the price for a failed experiment in governance,” he said, terming the Congress government inefficient and directionless.
