Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao will participate as chief guest in Telangana Formation Day celebrations to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 6.

Former Minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy unveiled the event brochure at the Film Nagar Cultural Club in Jubilee Hills on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Reddy said the programme was being jointly organised by the Malaysia Telangana Association (MYTA) and BRS’s Malaysia unit. He appreciated NRIs for promoting Telangana’s culture and identity globally for more than a decade and said the large-scale celebrations recently held in Dallas, USA, had inspired similar events in several countries.

Jagadish Reddy said Telangana suffered setbacks during the Congress government’s tenure and the void left after former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar demitted office, was being strongly felt across the State.

Accusing the Congress government of failing to implement its promises, he said the government was struggling to continue welfare schemes introduced during the BRS regime. He also criticised both the Centre and the State government over issues concerning farmers, fertiliser supply and women’s safety.

Referring to the recent POCSO case involving a minor girl, Jagadish Reddy questioned the silence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and accused both the BJP and Congress of failing to respond adequately to atrocities against women and children.

BRS NRI global president Mahesh Bigala said Telangana Formation Day celebrations will be organised in more countries in the coming months. BRS general secretary Gyadari Balamallu, MYTA president Tirupathi, MYTA women’s wing president Supriya, BRS Malaysia president Chittibabu and others were also present.
