Khammam: IT, MA & UD Minister KT Rama Rao would likely be inaugurating the new building of Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) later in the month of March. Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar along with Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi inspected the construction works of the building at Gattaiah Centre here on Friday and said the building would soon be inaugurated by the IT Minister.
The minister said the construction of the KMC building taken up with an estimated expenditure of Rs 20 crore was nearing completion. Engineering officials and contractors were told to expedite the works and keep the structure ready for inauguration.
Ajay Kumar informed that the new KMC building was being built on an area of 60, 000 square feet. It was equipped with modern facilities on par with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office building to cater to the needs of citizens for the next 50 years.
The council hall with a capacity of 150 seats with dual cushion chairs, modern public address system, central air conditioning were among highlights of the structure. Citizen chart, town planning, mee-seva and other citizens services would be offered under one roof.
With the Rs 100 crore annual funding given by the State government, infrastructure like internal roads, drinking water supply, constructing drains and others were being developed in the city, Ajay Kumar said.
Earlier in the day the minister inaugurated CC roads in different municipal divisions and distributed house pattas to poor families. He said as many as 140 internal roads were being developed with special development funds.
Mayor P Neeraja, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar and others were present.
