Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao expressed regret that he will be unable to attend the Green Leadership Award 2025 ceremony in New York on September 24 due to pressing political commitments and election-related meetings in Telangana.
The award recognises Rama Rao’s leadership in environmental transformation, particularly initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is the only political leader worldwide to be honoured with the award this year.
Rama Rao said he was truly humbled to be selected for the award at the 9th NYC Green School Conference, held as part of Climate Week alongside the UN General Assembly. “This recognition is a tribute to Telangana’s ambitious green journey under the leadership of former Chief Minister KCR garu and the BRS government. Due to prior commitments, I regret my inability to attend the award ceremony in New York,” he said in a statement.
He described the honour as a testament to the BRS government’s collective efforts to build a climate-resilient state. Thanking Green Mentors, the organisers of the award, he said he looked forward to working with them and global climate partners in the future.
