Rajanna Sircilla: BRS working president KT Rama Rao congratulated weaver Nalla Vijay for designing a new handloom using modern technology.

At Vijay’s invitation, Rama Rao visited his home in Sircilla and unveiled the new loom equipped with electronic Jacquard technology. He also unveiled the ‘Vendi Vennela’ (Silver Moonlight) saree woven on the new loom.

Rama Rao recalled legendary weaver Nalla Parandhamulu, who once wove a saree in Sircilla that could fit inside a matchbox. He said Parandhamulu’s artistic prowess brought global recognition to Sircilla and showcased the town’s handloom craftsmanship to the world.

The BRS working president said Vijay was carrying forward his father Parandhamulu’s legacy through various innovative experiments.

He said Vijay was now creating unique sarees using silver and gold threads with modern ‘Shift Jacquard’ technology. Rama Rao said he accepted the invitation after being impressed by the ‘Vendi Vennela’ saree and wanted to personally witness the experiment and appreciate Vijay’s skill and creativity.

Congratulating Vijay on the new loom, Rama Rao recalled his earlier support to the weaver and assured him of full cooperation to strengthen the handloom sector once the BRS returned to power.

He also announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art facility for Vijay in Sircilla, provide necessary subsidies and encourage more weavers to adopt the technology.

Vijay explained that electronic Jacquard technology would not only increase weaving speed but also reduce the physical strain on weavers. He said the technology would make weaving easier, particularly for women workers, while enabling higher production with less effort.

Vijay acknowledged Rama Rao’s continued efforts to promote the handloom sector.

“Like in the past when he unveiled innovative sarees, today also he unveiled a handloom equipped with electronic Jacquard technology and the ‘Vendi Vennela’ saree. We are thankful for his constant encouragement and support,” Vijay said.
