Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao extended Saddula Bathukamma greetings to the people of Telangana, particularly women, wishing them happiness, prosperity and well-being.
He said the nine-day Bathukamma celebrations, marked by colourful floral arrangements, worship of Gauramma, traditional songs and dances, reflected the richness of Telangana’s culture and traditions.
Rama Rao emphasised the responsibility of every individual to preserve the festival, which had been passed down through generations, and ensure that the tradition continued to be cherished by future generations.
He recalled that Bathukamma played a significant role during the Telangana movement by showcasing the State’s cultural identity and the unity of its people.
After the formation of Telangana in 2014, the previous BRS government accorded Bathukamma the status of a State festival and ensured grand celebrations across the State, he said.
Rama Rao also highlighted the introduction of Bathukamma saree distribution in 2017, describing it as a festive gift to women that also generated employment opportunities for Telangana’s weavers.
He wished that Saddula Bathukamma would bring joy and enthusiasm to every household and prayed for the blessings of Goddess Gauri to bring good health, happiness, prosperity and well-being to the people.
