Hyderabad: BRS working president and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to expedite construction of the permanent campus of JNTU Engineering College in Rajanna Sircilla district. He also requested the Chief Minister to direct officials not to issue notices asking the college to vacate its present premises until the permanent campus is completed or suitable alternative arrangements are made.
In a letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, Rama Rao said the campus was sanctioned in 2021 with administrative approval for Rs 402 crore, but construction had not begun despite 20 acres being allotted at Mandepalli village. The college is currently functioning temporarily on the premises of a degree college at Agraharam.
He said proposals to shift it to another private building could cause inconvenience to students, faculty and staff, besides rendering the existing classrooms, laboratories and other infrastructure unused. He urged the government to release the necessary funds and take up construction at Mandepalli without further delay.
Emphasising the institution’s importance to students from Rajanna Sircilla district and neighbouring areas, Rama Rao called for immediate intervention to ensure that their education was not disrupted by the delay in campus construction.
