KTR welcomes Revanth to Sircilla, demands white paper on development

BRS working president KT Rama Rao has sought a white paper on Sircilla's development and details of an alleged 8,000-acre government land takeover ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's visit, while raising demands concerning weavers, farmers and welfare schemes

Hyderabad: Welcoming Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to Sircilla on his first visit in three years, BRS working president and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao demanded that the Congress government release a white paper on the constituency’s development since it came to power. He sought clear timelines for implementing promises made to the constituency.

He challenged Revanth Reddy to address people’s concerns instead of confining his visit to political criticism and personal attacks on BRS leaders. He also sought answers to questions concerning land, weavers, farmers, youth, students and welfare schemes.

In an open letter to Revanth Reddy on Sunday, Rama Rao challenged the government to publish complete details of its allegation that BRS leaders had taken over 8,000 acres of government land and that 2,400 acres had been recovered. He sought details of the location, mandal, village, survey numbers, extent and ownership of the lands. If the allegations were true, he demanded that the government release a white paper; failing which, the Chief Minister should apologise to the people of Sircilla for what he termed false propaganda.

Questioning the Congress government’s support for the textile sector, the Sircilla MLA demanded payment of Rs 60 crore in pending dues to weavers, restoration of the 10 per cent yarn subsidy, an exclusive yarn depot in Sircilla and revival of the Rs 5 lakh Nethanna Bima (life insurance) scheme. He also sought a timeline for operationalising the weaving park and setting up new industries in the apparel park.

For farmers, he sought clarity on pending Rythu Bandhu payments, the promised Rs 15,000-per-acre assistance, the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver, Rythu Bima (life insurance) and support for tenant farmers. He also demanded a timeline for taking water from the Malkapet reservoir to the Upper Manair project.

Rama Rao sought funds for the JNTU engineering college, clearance of pending school infrastructure bills, new industries, irrigation works and market infrastructure. He also questioned the government over the alleged cancellation of CESS and sought restoration of welfare schemes, including payment of pensions, fee reimbursement and other pending dues. “The Congress has been evading answering the people for nearly three years over its failure to deliver on electoral promises. You cannot escape anymore,” he asserted.
