Mancherial: IT and Industries Minister K T Rama came to the rescue of Durgam Bheemaiah, a daily wage earners and native of Nennal, by assuring all support to him in treatment of tuberculosis. His office responded to a tweet by an NRI software engineer, Thode Krishna Reddy, who drew the Minister’s attention to Bheemaiah’s plight on Tuesday.
An official from the Minister’s office called up Baba, a reporter of a vernacular newspaper in Nennal mandal and gathered information on Bheemaiah’s family and financial condition. “He assured all support to the daily wage earner including a letter for treatment of the disease at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad soon,” Baba told Telangana Today.
Bheemaiah was diagnosed with the disease six years ago. He was unable to undergo treatment considering his poor financial background. His wife and two children were struggling to make both ends meet. Local philanthropists and a doctor raised Rs 10,000 to help the hapless daily wager on Monday.
Incidentally, this is third instance of the Minister coming to the rescue of needy persons in Nennal mandal. He had helped G Mahesh Goud of Nennal for treatment of brain tumour and extended financial support to the kin of Pangidi Chinnaiah from Jangalpet in Nennal mandal in the past.
