KTR’s sarcastic tweet on rising fuel prices goes viral

Hyderabad: The ruling TRS is taking the bull by its horns and leaving no stone unturned to corner the BJP on its false propaganda. Besides giving strong counter to the allegations of the BJP and organising its own electoral campaign, the TRS is also aggressively campaigning against the false promises and false propaganda of the BJP using social media and other means of mass communication which is receiving equally good response from people in the State.
On Saturday, TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao took potshots at the Centre which was feigning ignorance to the rising prices of gas, diesel and petrol. In his tweet, he posed a question to the Twitterati – “Quick general knowledge question. What is the full form of GDP that has been constantly on the rise because of the extraordinary performance of the Union Govt? (sic)”
People who have been angry over the constant increase in prices in the recent past, understood the sarcasm in the question and were quick to answer with – Gas, Diesel, Petrol. A few of them even replaced Gas with Gujarat, in an obvious sarcastic remark over the BJP’s love for the State.
GDP actually stands for Gross Domestic Product where the value of a country’s economic activity is measured in terms of GDP. The growth in GDP means that the country is on the development path. However, people have found new meaning to GDP and have been taking potshots on the social media, stating that the BJP which has promised an increased GDP had indeed achieved the feet by increasing the prices of Gas, Diesel and Petrol.
In response to the Minister’s tweet, several netizens ridiculed the BJP stating that since the BJP came to power at the Centre, the gas price has increased from Rs 400 to Rs 800 per LPG cylinder, petrol from Rs 60 to Rs 100 per litre, diesel from Rs 50 to Rs 89 per litre and cooking oil from Rs 80 to Rs 100 per litre. They criticised the BJP government for burdening the poor and the middle class by increasing the prices of essential commodities. “Are these the Acche Din (good days) that the BJP was talking about during the elections?” many questioned.
