KU will become innovation-startups hub in north Telangana: VC Prof. Pratap Reddy

Hanamkonda: Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy exhorted students to become job creators instead of waiting for employment and thus contribute to the nation’s economic development.
He addressed a gathering at an induction programme held on the KU campus here on Monday following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Kakatiya University’s K-Hub and Telangana State’s T-Hub.
The KU had entered into the MoU with T-Hub to foster an innovation and entrepreneurship culture in the university. It aims to provide a platform for nearly 3,000 students with an action plan to transform their innovative ideas into startups with the help of T-Hub’s mentoring support, the VC said.
Prof. Pratap Reddy hoped that at least 10 startups would emerge from this initiative. He advised students to register their ideas and work towards bringing them to fruition, noting that KU was poised to become a hub for innovation and startups in north Telangana.
Discussions on academic and research collaboration with Reutlingen University took place during a recent visit to Germany. As part of it, steps were being taken to implement ‘4 1’ and ‘3 2’ dual-degree courses for engineering students, as well as a two-week educational tour to Germany.
A MoU was signed with a prominent organisation and with its support, a second incubation centre would be set up at the university to provide students with the necessary facilities for developing startups, Prof. Pratap Reddy noted.
T-Hub representative Shravan Erugula stated that 400 students were selected for the programme. Around 12 to 15 special training sessions would be conducted to create awareness about entrepreneurship and startups, and their progress would be continuously monitored.
Registrar Prof. V. Ramachandram, K-Hub Director Prof. T. Savitha Jyothsna and RUSA Nodal Officer Prof. R. Mallikarjuna Reddy were present.
