Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at the Kushaiguda RTC depot on Wednesday, after women conductors alleged that officials were preventing them from attending their duties and asking them to take leave in the absence of drivers.
According to reports, the conductors had reported for duty but were made to wait without being allowed to sign the attendance register. They alleged that senior officials were repeatedly pressuring them to apply for leave whenever drivers failed to report for duty.
The women employees questioned over being asked to take leave despite being available for work. They said that applying for unnecessary leave could affect their salaries and questioned why they should lose their leave balance when they had turned up for duty as scheduled.
The conductors also expressed anguish over being made to wait since morning without clarity on their duty assignments. They questioned the practice of asking them to go on leave because the drivers assigned to their buses were absent.
Kushaiguda Depot officials, clarifying said it was a false that if a driver remained absent, the leave would be marked for the conductor assigned to the corresponding bus.
They said that the conductors would still receive their full salaries and that marking them on leave would not result in salary deductions.
