Hyderabad: The Nacharam police on Wednesday arrested a man on charges of raping and cheating a minor girl after promising to marry her. The arrested person, identified as Chandan Yadav (27), a construction worker from Uttar Pradesh, was unmarried and staying with his mother in the same neighbourhood where the 14-year-old victim lived.
According to the police, promising to marry her, Chandan lured the girl and raped her in her house in the absence of her family members. He also threatened her not to reveal it to anyone. Due to fear, she remained silent.
The incident came to light after she was spotted crying by one of her friends who enquired with her. Based on a complaint, the Nacharam police booked a case and arrested Chandan.
