Lady doctor dies by suicide in Hanamkonda, family alleges harassment by husband

Hanamkonda: A lady doctor allegedly died by suicide at Hasanparthy in Hanamkonda district on Monday, with her family members accusing her husband of harassment and pointing to his alleged extra-marital affair as the reason behind her death.

The deceased, Dr Pratyusha, a dental surgeon working at a private hospital, was found hanging at her residence. The incident has sparked outrage in Warangal, with her family demanding stringent action against her husband.

Speaking to the media, Dr Pratyusha’s father, Gajjela Ramakrishna, president of the TNGOs Association, Warangal district, said that his daughter had married Dr Alladi Srujan in 2017. Dr Srujan is an assistant professor at Kakatiya Medical College and a consultant at Medicover Hospital. The couple had two daughters.

Ramakrishna alleged that Dr Srujan had developed an affair with a social media influencer on Instagram and had started neglecting his wife and children. He claimed that frequent clashes occurred between the couple over this affair.

He further alleged that Dr Pratyusha was subjected to mental and physical harassment by Dr Srujan and his family members, who supported his relationship with a woman named Shruti. A day before the incident, her in-laws reportedly took the two young daughters to Cherla in Kothagudem.

Ramakrishna also claimed that there were bleeding injuries on Dr Pratyusha’s body and expressed suspicion that she may have been murdered, and the suicide was staged.

Based on his complaint, Hasanparthy police have registered a case against Dr Srujan and taken him into custody for questioning.
